Our phones are our constant window to the world. We use them to pay our bills, read the news, connect with friends, market our businesses and find our way to our next destination. What if you could also use your phone as a window to something bigger than this world? What if you could use your phone to pay your tithings, read the Bible, connect with parishioners, market your faith, and find your way closer to Jesus?
The Good Shepherd Catholic Parish is excited to deliver a line of tools to help you stay connected between Sunday masses with the people, the Word and the Church that strengthens each of our relationships with Jesus Christ.
Good Shepherd, Visalia: The Mobile App
First up, The Good Shepherd Catholic Parish Mobile App is available now in the Google Play Store and the APP Store by entering the search key words “Good Shepherd Visalia.” This free mobile app currently provides daily readings, mass times, liturgy schedules, directions to each of our churches, links to Facebook, and a parish events calendar. We are looking forward to continuing to further develop the application to send out ministry notifications, parish music and more. Download the app today and stay connected to the dozens of ministries and 13 weekend masses available in our parish.
The parish website is another area where we have grown leaps and bounds to bring our parishioners and newcomers into the fold of the parish’s services, ministries and teachings. With expanded information about ministries, sacraments and upcoming events, we like to see our website as a tool for both evangelization and formation. Some of the most convenient features of the website are the availability to register online for Baptism, Religious Formation and marriage information. It also offers downloadable flyers and registration forms, permission slips for upcoming events like Vacation
Bible School, retreats, and field trips.
The website is also beginning to feature recordings of Sunday homilies as well as video clips of our clergy and department heads discussing upcoming changes or programs happening in our parish.
One of the most exciting portions of the website that will continue to be developed is the worship and catechesis pages that will help you follow up what we’ve learned each Sunday and help you to continue to grow in your faith and understanding of Jesus’ message.
You can find all of these helpful features at www.gscparish.org.
Sign Up For Online Giving This Month
Our new website continues to feature Online Giving at www.gscparish.org/online-giving/ This online program eliminates the need for envelopes and stopping by the ATM before mass. Parishioners are able to set up their giving with their bank account information or PayPal account and donations can be set up to be transferred weekly, monthly or manually at your convenience. With this tool, you can regularly track what you are giving, adjust your giving amount and even make an offering for a specific ministry or second collection. When tax season comes, you can always print a report that shows your giving for the year and you will no longer have to submit a request and wait for it to be filled during the busy season at the parish office.
To get you started off with online giving. This month, we will have a team of Online Giving Trainers at a different church site each week to help register and schedule your first offering. Check the bulletin and website for dates and times where you can learn about this convenient way to make your contribution to your parish.
