Catholic Schools Week
Jan 28-Feb 3 Catholic Schools Week: The Catholic Schools of Visalia, George McCann Memorial will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week, beginning Sunday January 28th. The theme-“Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead and Succeed.
Sunday, January 28th: Celebrating our Parish: George McCann families will be present at numerous parish Masses.
Monday, January 29th: Celebrating the Community: Students will learn about our community leaders while visiting with our local police and fire departments, as well as, get an opportunity to learn more about our military. We will also be recognizing our students, families and/or staff who volunteer their time and talents to our local community outside of school time.
Tuesday, January 30th: Celebrating our Students. On Tuesday students will showcase their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with grade appropriate STEM activities to challenge their intellect while working in cooperative groups. Activities range from making slime (investigating chemical reactions) to developing balloon rockets (engineering).
Wednesday, January 31st: Celebrating Our Nation. Kindergarten and 4th grade will lead us in a special prayer for our nation and veterans. The Boy Scouts will lead us in a Flag Ceremony. All Parish Veterans are invited to attend this ceremony beginning at 8:15am. All classes will make valentines for the VA hospital in Fresno.
Thursday, February 1st: Celebrating Vocations. We are excited to celebrate the calling of religious vocations. We will be reciting the St. Joseph prayer for vocations, listening to religious speakers, and praying a vocation novena daily.
*** Lip Sync Performance will be held on this date at 6pm in the Parish Center.
Friday, February 2nd: Celebrating Our Faculty, Staff and Volunteers: Parent volunteers will receive a special blessing at morning assembly. A “Thank You” reception will be held in the science lab following the assembly. Teachers and staff will be shown appreciation at morning recess with a treat from H.S.A.GMC WEBSITE
